When’s the best time to take the DAT?
I recommend taking the Dental Admission Test as soon as you have completed the coursework covering those subjects, so the material is most fresh in your mind. Typically, this is mid-Spring of junior year of college.
I also recommend taking it for the first time no later than 2 months before you plan to submit your AADSAS application. In case you need to reschedule or retake the test, you still have the window to do so. Depending on your final score, you may modify your school list.
Also, it’s smart to take into consideration your course/work load and what kind of learner you are. Personally, I’m practically incapable of spacing out studying for an extended time and always end up procrastinating. Thus, I registered to take my DAT in January of junior year, right after winter break. That way, I spent three solid weeks over winter break to cram for the exam.
