The AADSAS application is a critical component of the dental school admissions process, and submitting it early can provide applicants with a significant advantage. The web portal opens mid-May every year for pre-dental applicants to start filling it out, and the 1st day of open submissions in the 2026 cycle is June 2. After the AADSAS is submitted, it can take several weeks to verify the details, transcripts, GPA, etc before the completed application lands at the dental school admission office.
Knowing that dental schools use rolling admissions, most applicants feel great anxiety over submitting in the first few days in order to have the best chances. However, submitting early should not come at the expense of quality. It’s important to take sufficient time to craft strong personal statements, accurately complete all sections, and ensure their materials are polished. Furthermore, it makes sense to hold off on submitting the AADSAS if one is waiting on expected strong grades over summer coursework that can boost overall GPA. On the other hand, do NOT delay sending AADSAS simply because one is waiting to retake the DAT test in June or July.
In practicality, applications submitted in the month of June and early July typically all fall under one batch for interview invites. The majority of interview invites are sent between August, September, and early October. If anything, I personally think that admission officers encounter a stronger pool in the first batch and might be choosier. Aim to submit your application as early as you are ready, ideally before mid-July. Hopefully this eases the pressure for the next few weeks!
